Outrage Over Vicious Attack of Elderly Asian Woman in Yonkers

Latimer, OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates – Westchester, Speak Out Against Targeted Violence

The Westchester and Hudson Valley Chapter of OCA – Asian Pacific American Advocates (OCA-WHV) abhors the vicious attack against an elderly Asian American woman in Yonkers the evening of Friday March 11th. We applaud the Yonkers Police for quickly taking the suspect into custody and urge the DA to aggressively prosecute him to the fullest extent possible. Targeting innocent, vulnerable individuals because of their race is totally unacceptable and Asian Americans have been especially so targeted. We condemn this incident and others like it.

OCA-WHV encourages everyone, even if you are a bystander, to report any physical or verbal incidents towards Asian Americans to the police and the Westchester County Human Rights Commission.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim. OCA stands ready to provide the victim and her family with assistance as needed.
