NYPD Sgt. Who Drove Wrong Way on Taconic That Killed Other Driver Re-suspended

Tiffany Howell has been re-suspended pending charges that are expected to come against her after she drove the wrong way on the Taconic Parkway on Feb. 2, colliding with another vehicle and killing the driver.

“After deliberating for weeks, the NYPD has finally re-suspended pending charges Sergeant Tiffany Howell as of February 2, 2026 in regards to her DWI accident that caused a fatality on the Taconic Parkway exclusively reported first by The Sal Greco Show,” posted Greco.

Greco also reported that Howell has withdrawn her application for vested retirement. “Sergeant Tiffany Howell who recently had put in for a vested retirement after her crash on the Taconic Parkway that caused a fatality, was also suspended pending charges just days ago, has now officially withdrawn her application for vested retirement,” posted Greco.

Howell crashed her 2021 Infiniti on the Taconic at 1139 PM, in the Town of Mt. Pleasant near the Saw Mill Parkway interchange. She was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when she collided with 61 year old Manuel Boitel of Peekskill. Boitel was driving home from his job as a doorman in Manhattan. He was rushed to nearby Westchester County Medical Center, where he died.

The crash happened around 11:39 p.m. on January 22, near mile marker 3.7 in the Town of Mount Pleasant, close to the Saw Mill River Parkway interchange.

State police say 47-year-old Tiffany Howell, of Warwick, was driving her 2021 Infiniti the wrong way, south in the northbound lanes, when she hit a 2024 Toyota head-on.

The Toyota’s driver, 61-year-old Manuel Boitel of Peekskill, was rushed to Westchester Medical Center, where he died shortly after arriving.

The family of Boitel posted that Howell was drunk, however, there has been no proof of her Blood Alcohol Content, BAC, nor has Howell been charged with a crime, two weeks after the incident.

Many are watching and calling for an arrest and/or an indictment, which may come today, Friday Feb. 6.
