Two letters to the editor concerning this advertisement
To The Editor:
I find it sad and ironic that a recent advertisement in your newspaper highlighted the
fact that we are no longer teaching our children about the Constitution. The irony is that while
Mr. Futia, in his ad, discusses the requirement to teach all students in New York public schools
the State Constitution, instead, our NY Attorney General recently held a Drag Story Hour at
a Queens Library.
While Mr. Futia is correct, I wonder who would prioritize and enforce the teaching of the constitution in our public school classrooms in New York State?
I would also argue that most students, and most Americans, don’t even know about the US Constitution. This is a discussion that is no longer held in our state and our country, and I enjoyed the ad. It made me think and respond with this letter. Thanks for publishing it and
keep up the good work.
Sincerely, Helen McCabe, Cortlandt Manor
To The Editor:
Mr. Anthony Futia seems to be the type of Conservative Westchester resident, taxpayer and American, that has disappeared from our political landscape. His fight for the taxpayer,
and for the teaching of the Constitution in our classrooms, is admirable.
When we see stories in your papers and elsewhere about Abortion Pills and Drag Queen Story Hour, what a breath of fresh air Mr. Futia’s arguments are for me to read, through his advertisements.
While we may be outnumbered in Westchester, I wonder what would happen if someone as articulate and outspoken as Futia would run for public office. Maybe that is the problem with our republican party, we no longer nominate candidates who “Say it like it is,” and speak the truth. I look forward to reading more from him. Where can I read more or learn more about the content of his ads?
Gene Murray, Northern Westchester
