NY Leaders Unite for Historic Shared Parenting Reform Conference

Get ready to dive deep into co-parenting strategies at the Shared Parenting Conference – it’s all about supporting each other!

New York’s first Shared Parenting Conference in Peekskill on April 19, 2026, is a high-impact, solutions-focused gathering designed to transform how New York supports children and parents after separation or divorce. Hosted by former Peekskill Mayor André Rainey, Chair of the New York Chapter of the National Parents Organization, the event will feature four nationally recognized leaders in the shared parenting movement, bringing together families, mental health professionals, legal experts, advocates, and policymakers who believe every child deserves meaningful, ongoing relationships with both fit, loving parents. Through powerful keynote talks, real family stories, and clear legislative and policy action steps, the conference will spotlight the human cost of a system that too often sidelines one parent, and will mobilize attendees to advance equal shared parenting as a cornerstone of family law reform in New York.

From former Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey. “My name is Andre Rainey, former Mayor of Peekskill, NY, Chair of the National Parents Organization’s New York Chapter, and President of Fathers Are Important. For years, I’ve worked to strengthen communities across New York, advocating for justice, equity, and accountability for families navigating the system that’s supposed to protect them.

“After experiencing firsthand the bias and disrespect from the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services, a moment that reshaped my purpose. I made a promise: no parent should ever have to fight simply to remain in their child’s life. That experience has now grown into a movement.

“On April 19, 2026, from 12 PM to 3 PM in Peekskill, NY, we are hosting New York’s first Shared Parenting Conference & Expo, a historic statewide event dedicated to making New York a Shared Parenting State.

“This groundbreaking conference will bring six nationally recognized guest speakers, over 30 family and community organizations, and several New York State elected officials together in one room to discuss legislative reform that will shape the future for families in New York. With over 120 RSVPs already confirmed and up to 200 attendees expected, this event marks a turning point in family law advocacy.

“The conference isn’t political, it’s personal. It’s about fairness, equality, and the right of every child to maintain meaningful relationships with both parents. The conversation will confront long-standing systemic biases and create a blueprint for legislative change.

“This story isn’t just about one man’s journey, it’s about a statewide movement to reform family court practices, increase accountability, and restore balance for countless New York families.”
