“We cannot have a health secretary whose actions harm Americans’ health.”
Democrat Jessica Reinmann, candidate for Congress in New York’s 17th District, today called for Congress to immediately impeach Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and remove him from office due to his continued promotion of false information, jeopardizing the health of Americans and people around the world. The US Constitution allows for the impeachment of Cabinet Secretaries for “behaving in a manner grossly incompatible with the office,”[1] which Kennedy has done, repeatedly.
Kennedy has promoted measles misinformation during Texas’ worst measles outbreak in 30 years[2]; he has promoted dangerous misinformation about the cause of AIDS[3]; he has promoted false information on the impact of vaccines on various medical conditions including falsely linking them to autism[4]; he has recklessly promoted a plan to encourage avian flu to be allowed to spread unchecked[5], which experts agree would be a disaster on multiple levels; and most recently, he has canceled over $500 million in vaccine research[6] that would help America and the world better respond to future diseases like COVID.
“Secretary Kennedy and the Trump Administration’s actions undermine America’s health, undermine our national security, and undermine our ability to protect our families,” said Reinmann. “All medical professionals operate under a ‘first, do no harm’ oath, and we cannot have a Health Secretary whose actions cause harm. Congress must act before more people are harmed and more damage is done to our health care infrastructure and responsiveness.”
“When I see a problem, I fix it,” said Reinmann. ”And if Congress does not act now, one of my first actions after getting elected will be to file impeachment charges against Mr. Kennedy.”
