In Person Tonight Feb. 16-230-430pm at Greenburgh Town Hall; Zoom forum on Feb. 21
The State Senate’s Westchester Delegation will hold two budget forums, one in-person and one virtually, on the governor’s proposed 2023-24 NYS Budget to get feedback from the community.
The in-person forum will be on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at Greenburgh Town Hall, and the virtual forum will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Those who wish to testify must pre-register. Each person will be given two minutes to speak. Written testimony will be accepted before and after the hearing.
Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said: “These forums are a vital opportunity for the Westchester Senate Delegation to hear the priorities of residents and community organizations. Hearing from our constituents helps us to effectively provide our communities, advocates and families with the resources they need. I welcome each speaker’s input, and look forward to hearing about their priorities and concerns.”
Senator Shelley B. Mayer said: “As my legislative colleagues and I work through the many important funding priorities in the NYS budget, it is essential that we hear from the residents and community groups we represent. These budget forums provide wonderful opportunities for me to hear from my constituents, community members and advocates. We have an obligation to ensure our budget invests in the programs that New Yorkers need while being good stewards of taxpayer dollars. I am committed to ensuring the agreed upon state budget reflects those priorities, and I look forward to hearing from all the speakers.”
Senator Pete Harckham said: “Our residents have a perfect opportunity at these two hearings to express their priorities and concerns directly to us during the budget process. This input strengthens the decision-making in what truly is ‘the people’s budget,’ and it’s our duty and responsibility to hear what residents have to say.”
Senator Jamaal T. Bailey said: “These forums are a great opportunity for community members to get involved in the budget process. As we kick-off this vital process, it’s critical that our state dollars are invested back into our communities and meeting the urgent needs of our families. I look forward to joining my colleagues in the Westchester Senate delegation to hear from our constituents and ensure the state budget accurately reflects the values and priorities of our communities.”
Senator Nathalia Fernandez said: “It is an honor to represent Pelham and New Rochelle in the Westchester State Senate Delegation alongside my colleagues and Leader Stewart-Cousins. I urge all our constituents to participate in these forums because it is not the people’s budget without the participation of the people. This year’s budget has many statewide implications, but it also has direct lines to our communities to address our needs. I look forward to hearing from the 34th Senate District on your priorities and how we can better advocate for you in Albany.”
