NEW YORK BLOOD CENTER OFFERS BLOOD DONORS A CHANCE TO WIN TICKETS TO NEW YORK KNICKS VS. BROOKLYN NETS GAME

All who come to donate in October will automatically be entered to win two center court lower bowl tickets for the Knicks vs. Nets game*

New York Blood Center (NYBC) is encouraging New Yorkers to donate blood by offering an incentive for basketball fans to support both of New York City’s home teams. From Wednesday, October 1st through Friday, October 31st, all blood donors will be entered into a sweepstakes to win two center court lower bowl tickets for the Nets vs. Knicks game at the Barclays Center on November 24th. All New York Blood Center donor centers and community blood drives are participating in this promotion.

The promotion comes at a critical time, as New York’s blood supply currently sits at a 3-day level overall, less than half of the ideal 7-day reserve required to meet hospital needs. Type O blood is especially urgent, with just a 1–2 day supply on hand. Hospitals rely on type O donations most during emergencies and traumas, making it vital for eligible donors to step forward now.

“Every donation truly makes a difference, and we wanted to give New Yorkers an extra reason to roll up their sleeves this fall,” said Andrea Cefarelli, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at New York Blood Center. “We hope this exciting promotion for the upcoming basketball season brings New Yorkers from across the five boroughs together, helps replenish the blood supply at our hospitals, and adds some excitement for basketball fans while supporting a critical cause.”

Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. In light of recent updates to FDA guidance, more people than ever may now be eligible to give. To view current eligibility guidelines, visit nybc.org or call 800.688.0900.
