New Rochelle Man Shot Trying to Take Cops Gun

On July 3, at approximately 4:29 pm, the New Rochelle Police Department received a call from a local store regarding a possible theft. The caller gave a description. The responding officers observed the man, in close proximity of the store, walking on Lincoln Avenue near North Avenue. While being placed under arrest, the man physically resisted.

He was shot when he grabbed an officer’s gun, in an attempt to remove it from the holster. He was taken to a local hospital and is currently undergoing medical treatment.

As the incident is under investigation by the New York State Police and the New York State Attorney General’s Office, no further information will be released by the New Rochelle Police Department at this time.
