NCC MLK Jr. Vitrual Breakfast to Honor Ray Wilcox & Joshua Heron

Yonkers Artist Ray Wilcox, who was the driving force behind the
BLM Mural in Yonkers, will be honored by NCC on Jan 18.

Please join the Board of Directors and staff of the Nepperhan Community Center as we celebrate our 35th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Virtual Celebration on Monday January 18 at 6pm. Nepperhan Community Center Inc. is a 501 © 3 not-for-profit community based organization with headquarters in Yonkers, that serves the Hudson Valley of the State of New York, and 5 countries on the continent of Africa. We are proud to be celebrating 35 years of honoring America’s greatest civil rights champion in Dr. King.

This year’s virtual celebration will feature Grammy Award winning jazz and gospel recording artist Jonathan Butler. We will also be pausing to honor two young men who have distinguished themselves as outstanding community activists, Ray Wilcox the Executive Director of Yonkers Arts. Ray was also one of the creators of the PowerLab serving the residents of Yonkers, and was the driving force in getting the Black Lives Matter banner painted in downtown Yonkers.

Our other awardee is Joshua Heron a freshman at Howard University, and former graduate of the Yonkers Public Schools. Joshua has been an integral part of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Movement. He has been very instrumental in using his voice as a powerful medium for change in our nation. He is undergirded by his love of God, and has used his faith in God to speak out against injustices that we have witnessed against African Americans.

The cost of tickets are $35 dollars, and you can make payments at www.nepperhan.org, or in person at the Nepperhan Center, 342 Warburton Avenue in Yonkers, and a link to the virtual celebration will be sent to you. The Honorable Evan Inlaw is the President of the Board of Directors, and Dr. Jim Bostic is the agency’s Executive Director.
