Muscoot Farm’s Sheep Shearing Festival May 12; Farmer’s Market Every Sunday Through November

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a trip to Muscoot Farm to shop the Farmers Market and experience the farm’s sheep shearing yearly tradition, Sunday, May 12.

Each year on Mother’s Day, Muscoot Farm hosts its Sheep Shearing Festival in which its sheep receive their annual haircut to prepare for the warm months. This year the program will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include hayrides, which begin at 11:30 a.m. and are $5 per person – cash, credit card and Venmo are accepted – there will be spinning demonstrations throughout the day and an educational work shop at 2 p.m. New this year is a special Sheep Meet and Greet event at 10 a.m. where visitors will have the chance to enter the enclosure for an up close and personal experience with the sheep. Registration is required; for those ages six and older; $10 per person. Only those who have registered can enter the farm at 9 a.m

County Executive George Latimer said: “The Mother’s Day activities at Muscoot Farm signify the beginning of spring in Westchester County and are a great way for families to be together and celebrate mom with a stroll through the farmers market then participating in the day’s various activities.”

Commissioner of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation Kathy O’Connor said: “Muscoot Farm runs several annual events and the Farmers Market and Sheep Shearing Festival are not to be missed! I’m excited the staff added more activities this year for everyone to enjoy.”
