The Mount Vernon Public Library is partnering with the American Association of
Retired Persons (AARP) to provide free tax preparation to the community.
Beginning Wednesday, February 7, 2024, AARP volunteers will provide contact-free tax prep on Mondays
and Wednesdays from 10am until 3pm. Participants should call the Reference Desk at (914) 668-1840 ext.
219 or220 to schedule an appointment to drop off their tax materials. Once a participant’s returns have
been completed, the participant will be contacted to come and pick up their tax returns. The final day for
appointments for AARP tax assistance is Monday, April 15, 2024. The deadline to file 2023 tax returns on
time with the IRS is Monday, April 15, 2024.
Library Director Timur Davis shares, “The Library is pleased to once again present this great partnership
with the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program. Tax preparation services are free to the public and it allows
the library the ability to provide services that supports the community.”
