Staten Island, NY is abuzz upon hearing the news that Steven Molinaro, 33, was arrested by the NYPD after they came to his home and found a young girl shot in the chest. The female victim was rushed to the hospital where she is expected to recover from a gunshot to the chest.
A search of the apartment found 100 pounds of marijuana, and a 9mm gun, and $100,000 in cash, all the signs of a drug dealers pad. Molinaro and Almir Ramic, 34 were charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana. No charges in the shooting of the young girl or her identify. She is believed to be Molinaro’s girlfriend.
The house was in the Fort Wadsworth neighborhood on Nugent Avenue, and is owned by the Molinaro family and is in a quiet residential area. Molinaro is the grandson of former Borough President James Molinaro. Media reports say that Molinaro was seen throwing trash into a can outside his home after neighbors heard the shooting
Molinaro has a rap sheet and a history of getting into trouble. In 2016 Molinaro was arrested in Arizona with 100 pounds of marijuana in his car. He was given 36 months probation in that case, which ended before this incident.
In 2006-2007, he was arrested for assaulting the local newspaper boy, then, when released from jail, he was arrested for being a car of young men that were driving to punish the person who testified against Molinaro.
Young Molinaro served three years for the assaults after then Staten Island DA Dan Donovan had the cases transferred to the Manhattan DA because of a conflict of interest. James Molinaro claimed that the Manhattan DA overpunished his grandson because of their dislike of him.
At the time, the young Molinaro’s grandfather, then SI Borough President James Molinaro, took out a full page ad claiming that his grandson was charged “too harshly for being a Molinaro.”
