On Sept. 7, what has become and end of summer tradition, the Yonkers Mayor’s Cup Regatta was held at Yonkers Paddling and Rowing Club. This event is the third in the annual Glickman Cup Challenge, which is sponsored by Sebago Canoe Club in Brooklyn, Inwood Canoe Club in Manhattan, and YPRC.
The Sebago CC took home the Glickman Cup this year.
The Mayor’s Cup 800-meter men’s race was won by Edmundas Rimkus, also of Sebago, and the women’s 800-meter was won by Jean Kostelich of YPRC.
This race was decided by a number of inches, as Yonkers hometown favorite Chevaughn Dixon of YPRC finished a close second to Rimkus.
