Democrat George Latimer, Congressional Candidate for the 16th District in New York, was joined on May 22 by Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Yonkers City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, Yonkers City Council Member John Rubbo, and County Legislator Jose Alvarado to announce the support of elected leaders across the city of Yonkers, which is New York’s third largest city and the largest city in Westchester County. Latimer continues to make inroads across the Bronx and Westchester, building a robust grassroots campaign ahead of the Democratic primary.

“I am humbled to receive the support of my colleague and friend Mayor Mike Spano and this incredible delegation of Yonkers Democrats. Together we will ensure every family in Yonkers, across Westchester and the Bronx have the support and resources to succeed and thrive,” said NY-16 Congressional Candidate George Latimer. “I am running because we deserve competent leadership focused on results. From increases in health funding for lower income residents, free bus service, and completing capital projects in the county including Memorial Field in Mt. Vernon and Sprain Ridge Pool in Yonkers, we have achieved great progress in Yonkers and will do even more when I go to Washington.”

Latimer’s growing support among Yonkers elected leaders also includes Yonkers Council Members Corazon Pineda-Isaac and Tasha Diaz as well as County Legislator David Tubiolo, which is indicative of his commitment to all working families across Westchester and Bronx as well as his results-driven approach to public service.

“George Latimer is a class act who truly leads with the interest of Westchester working families in mind. I am confident that he will fight to improve our quality of life and bring critical resources back to the community so that we can thrive,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. “From keeping guns off our streets to providing access to childcare, investing in our infrastructures, creating a more inclusive society and championing a true path to citizenship for our immigrants and migrants can thrive, George has devoted his career in public service, he fights for all of us and will deliver real progressive results.”

“George Latimer is the man for the job because he has been committed to not only to the City of Yonkers, but to the entire county,” said Yonkers City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy. George has delivered for us time and time again because he is a man of integrity and we support him wholeheartedly in this race for Congress. George not only speaks about results over rhetoric, he lives it.”

“George is about results not distractions and he walks the streets like one of us,” said County Legislator Jose Alvarado. “It is my pleasure to endorse George Latimer for Congress and we are going to make sure you win!”
