Mayor Mike Spano Endorses Lakisha Collins-Bellamy for City Council President

Mayor Mike Spano, endorsing City Council President canddiate Lakihsa Collins-Bellamy

Lakisha Collins-Bellamy is honored to be endorsed by Mayor Mike Spano of the City of Yonkers.
Collins-Bellamy, an attorney, is running a historic race to become the next Yonkers City Council
President.


Mayor Mike Spano, who was elected in 2012, has brought unprecedented economic
development to the city, stood up for education, and worked to make Yonkers a safer place to
live for all residents.


Mayor Spano said, “We need a Council President who is not only untainted, but who is qualified
and ready to move the city forward. That person is Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, and I am asking the
people of Yonkers to join me in voting for Lakisha in the Democratic Primary on Tuesday.”


Acknowledging her experience as a graduate of Yonkers public schools, a mother, and a community
advocate, Mayor Spano appointed Collins-Bellamy as a Trustee of the Yonkers Board of
Education last year. He said, “I knew Lakisha would be a dedicated and effective leader for our”
schools. I have not been disappointed.”


Once elected, Collins-Bellamy is excited to work with Mayor Spano and other members of our
city government to ensure that residents have access to affordable housing, a quality education,
economic opportunity, and a safe city to live in.

Lakisha Collins-Bellamy, a lifelong Yonkers resident, serves as legal counsel for the Municipal
Housing Authority of Yonkers and is a member of the Yonkers Police Reform Committee.
