Mayor Mike Spano has officially endorsed Alberto Velazquez for Yonkers City Council District 2, citing his long-standing dedication to the community, strong work ethic, and bold vision for the future of the district.
“Alberto Velazquez has spent decades serving Yonkers—most notably in our public schools and as an advocate for working families. He understands what our neighborhoods need because he has lived it, worked in it, and fought for it.”
“Alberto is committed to safer streets, better schools, and more affordable housing. I am proud to endorse him for City Council and confident he will be a strong voice for the people of District 2,” said Mayor Spano.
Velazquez, a lifelong Yonkers resident and 26-year employee of the Yonkers Public Schools, expressed his gratitude for the Mayor’s support:
“I am honored to have Mayor Spano’s endorsement. His leadership has moved our city forward, and I look forward to working alongside him to bring positive change to our neighborhoods.”
Velazquez’s campaign focuses on public safety, housing affordability, school investment, and local economic development.
The Democratic Primary for Yonkers City Council District 2 will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
