On March 23, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced the appointment of Lynette Thomas-Braggs as the City of Yonkers first-ever female City Assessor. Thomas-Braggs continues her service in Yonkers, bringing over 20 years of experience, most recently serving as a Senior Real Property Appraiser in the City of Yonkers Assessment Department.

“Yonkers takes great pride in promoting those within our City departments, providing opportunities to employees who have the skillset and experience needed to serve in positions of leadership,” said Mayor Spano. “Lynette has demonstrated with her over 20 years of experience working in the Yonkers Assessment department that she is an ideal candidate to build on our efforts to provide Yonkers taxpayers with a more fair and efficient assessment process.”

“It is truly an honor and privilege to serve the City of Yonkers’ constituents,” said City of Yonkers Assessor Lynette Thomas-Braggs. “The Assessment Team will continue to strive for efficiency, equity and transparency so that we, as a Team, work with excellence and integrity.”

Thomas-Braggs has over 20 years of experience serving in the City of Yonkers Assessment department, most recently as a Senior Real Property Appraiser conducting various duties, including conducting field inspections examining property transfer documents, deeds, and other documents. Prior to her service at the City’s Assessment Department, Thomas-Braggs served as a Clerk in the City of Yonkers Finance department for nine years. As a key member of the Department, Thomas-Braggs was charged with handling sensitive information and maintaining financial databases.

The City Assessor is responsible for overseeing the establishment of the assessed value for all property within the municipal boundaries of the City of Yonkers.

Thomas-Braggs fills a vacancy left by former Assessor David Jackson, who retired.  Thomas-Braggs’ term will run through August 31, 2026.
