Dear Sirs,
I’m hoping you can help me. I live right by Trenchard Park. I come to find out that they’re going to put a full basketball court there. They tried this once before in the mid1990s, and it was a nightmare.
People would double and triple park their cars. My driveway was constantly being blocked. Yonkers Parks are open from 8:00 AM until dusk.
I was constantly calling the police because people would be playing at all hours of the night. If and when the police did show up, they would tell the people to leave the park. When the police left, the people would return to the park and continue playing basketball.
They would show up at 6:30 AM. By the time the police did show up. The park would officially be open. I tried to speak to parks deputy commissioner Gino Pugliese. He told me,” We’ll you knew when you bought by a park, that this could happen.”
I tried to have a meeting with Mayor Spano, but I was told by his office “no”. I already spoke to the Parks Department.
I’ve had altercations with people in the park. I’m a retired NYPD Officer. I helped dig at the World Trade Center after 9/11.
I don’t need this. I need my sleep. Please help me? Thank you in advance.
Respectfully yours, Gerald Sullivan, Yonkers
