Larchmonth-Mamaroneck Lions Present Scholarships to HS Seniors Ezra Wang and Lucie Paumier

2024 Scholarship winners Ezra Wang and Lucie Paumier with LM Lions President Lina Pasquale and VP Marie Moreno

The Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions Club awarded two scholarships as part of its high school community service essay contest. For over 20 years this annual scholarship has been awarded to Larchmont-Mamaroneck graduating seniors who have performed meaningful local community service.

Mamaroneck High School senior Ezra Wang and Rye Neck High School senior Lucie Paumier were the winners of the 2024 essay contest and were presented with a $1,000 award towards college expenses.

Applicants submitted a short essay describing their charitable work, its impact on the local community and how community service has made an impact on them. Lina Pasquale, LM Lions President, served as Committee Chair.  In addition to Lina, other reviewers included Marie Moreno, Nancy Joselson, Elaine Chapnick and Kate Bialo, also LM Lions Club members.  All essays were rated based on the applicant’s breadth and depth of service and how that service embodied the Lions’ motto “We Serve.”

In reflecting on the submissions, LM Lions President Lina Pasquale said “youth community service brings an infusion of fresh energy and innovative ideas to local projects, which is so vital for addressing pressing issues in new and effective ways. Moreover, it nurtures a sense of responsibility and empathy in young people, instilling in them the value of supporting others and contributing to a greater cause. Witnessing the dedication of young people to serving others is a powerful reminder of how youth can ignite change and inspire their community. Congratulations to award recipients Ezra and Lucie, and to all the other inspiring youth who are serving their communities well.”

The LM Lions, celebrating their Centennial, focus on supporting community service groups-providing funding, volunteers & advocacy.   Their motto “Better Together”– to bring community leaders together to determine needs, resources & achieve solutions.  The Lions causes are vision, hunger, childhood cancer, diabetes, the environment and community. The LM Lions work closely with our local schools & youth programs and participate in community events. The LM Lions are part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service organization of over 1.4 million members in more than 200 countries.
