Labor Avalanche: Unions Across New York State Line Up Behind Frank Jereis Ahead of June Primary for Yonkers’ State Assembly Seat

A powerful coalition of labor unions from across New York State is rallying behind Assembly candidate Frank Jereis, delivering a wave of endorsements heading into the June Democratic primary.

The growing labor alliance includes the New York State AFL-CIO, CSEA New York, Public Employees Federation, 32BJ SEIU, 1199SEIU and Teamsters Local 456.

Public safety unions have also lined up behind the campaign, including the Yonkers PBA, Yonkers CLSA, Westchester County PBA, Westchester COBA and the Westchester County Superior Correction Officers Association.

Additional endorsements came from Yonkers Fire Fighters Local 628, Yonkers UFOA and AFSCME Local 1897.

Frank Jereis has consistently centered his platform on affordability, public safety, wages and protections for working families, themes that appear to be resonating strongly with union members and labor organizations across New York as well as Democrats across the 90th District.

The breadth of support has created significant momentum for the Jereis campaign, with political observers viewing the endorsements as one of the largest and most unified demonstrations of organized labor support in the race.

The coalition spans healthcare workers, police officers, correction officers, firefighters, sanitation and municipal workers, building service employees and state workers, reflecting broad support among unions representing working-class communities throughout the region.

As the June primary approaches, organized labor is expected to play a major role in voter outreach, grassroots organizing and turnout operations. Political analysts say the unprecedented level of labor support for an open Assembly seat could provide a substantial advantage in a competitive Democratic primary where field operations and union-backed mobilization efforts are expected to be decisive.
