Yonkers Force Player of the Year Ja’Mhi Jackson

In May, Yonkers Force football Coach Dan DeMatteo presented Ja’Mhi Jackson with the teams Yonkers Rising Player of the Year Award. Jackson was a two way player for the Force playing both Fullback and Defensive End.

Coach DeMatteo said of Ja’Mhi, “He caught the attention of All Section 1… he was voted All Conference and All League even though we got to play only 2 games this past season… he has set up for a huge senior year this Fall… the part that we are most proud of is how is how he is doing academically…he has had some struggles as a 9th grader and has done a complete 180… his teachers joined the zoom call as well as school administrators and his parents to surprise and congratulate him… we are so very proud of him but his work is not done yet…this is hopefully going to spring board him to have an even better senior year athletically and academically,” said Coach DeMatteo.

“Jamhi Jackson is truly one of the best stories in Westchester. His hard work has caught up with his physical ability and he has become a well rounded Student-Athlete, serving as motivation for his peers both on and off the football field. We look forward to him moving on as a leader on the Force and at Gorton HS during his senior campaign,” said Gorton HS Assistant Principal Jamie Morales.

Congrats and best of luck to you Ja’ Mhi from your friends at the Yonkers Rising!
