I was up at 5 in the morning earlier this week, couldn’t fall back asleep and thought, ‘Who would be up so early today?’ Then I remembered my Congressman George Latimer was always up early when he was County Executive. Could he remain on the same schedule? Yes friends he is!
Unlike his predecessor, George is not blabbing his mouth off 24-7-365 about issues he knows nothing about. I see George in a similar vain as Eliot Engel, Nita Lowey, Dick Ottinger and the many others who came before him. Concentration on constituent services with a sharp eye on the goings around the world. George is not joining crazy coalitions.
With his predecessor gone, the National nightmare he represented is over. Hey, let’s wish the man all the best in his future endeavors!
So I asked George how he likes his new job. His eloquent response:
“My nine weeks in Washington has been a combination of awe and awful. The awe is to see the historic nature of The Capitol and Congress; the great people that served there and shaped American history. A place of a Lincoln and an FDR. It is amazing.
The awful is the chaos created by Trump and Musk who want to wreck the system as it is without knowing how or what would replace it – and in the meantime, being cold and heartless to the people that have been hurt and in some cases ruined by their careless actions. There’s a way to reform, to reduce costs and root out true corruption, but this ain’t it. This is revenge. Pure and simple”
What more can I say? As someone who heard from a friend who got one of those stupid 5 accomplishment letters only to be told by his boss not to complete it, Washington is in a state of chaos. Just like he brought calm to a Congressional district previously occupied by giants, let’s hope he can Make America Grown Up again with people who are respected for their service, not treated like children

Many of you know I have been going through hell heath wise lately. I am on the mend, but it’s a long way to Tiparary! I need your prayers!
My saga began December 17. I have had scoliosis since my uncle , Dr. Augustus Wolf discovered it as a child. No surgery, but always watching it. At 64 I got Parkinson’s which complicates the scenario. Started walking with a walker.
Orthopedist and Neurologist wanted surgery immediately. Successful surgery with lots of complications. Fever. Infection. Pain. To make things worse, surgery was in NJ far away from Yonkers. My doc does surgery there. No Chanukah, Christmas or New Year’s Celebrations.
8 weeks later, my incision opens. Rush back to NJ hospital. After 3 operations back at New Jersey hospital ( I wouldn’t bring my dog there to have his nails clipped.
Finally at united Hebrew for rehab in NEW Rochelle. Wonderful place!
All I can do is pray!
