While watching the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, you can look to see how these Westchester residents and natives are doing:

Aerin Frankel, Women’s Ice Hockey:

26-year-old Aerin Frankel hails from the Chappaqua/Briarcliff Manor area of Westchester County. She’s serving as goalie for the U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey team at the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Her love for the ice reportedly began as a child skating at Westchester Skating Academy. She briefly attended high school at Horace Greely in Chappaqua before transferring to an academy in Minnesota where she played ice hockey. Frankel also plays professionally for the Boston Fleet in the Professional Women’s Hockey League.

The Quarterfinals are Feb. 13. Semifinals are Feb. 16. Medal games are Feb. 19. Aerin and the USA have a chance at the Gold, with Canada their major competitor.

Danny Casper, Curling:

Casper, who grew up in Briarcliff Manor and graduated from The Hackley School in Tarrytown in 2019, comes from a family of Olympic Curlers. Both his great aunt and uncle participated in the 1988 Nagano Olympics.

In 2024, Casper was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Syndrome in 2024, an autoimmune, nerve-attacking illness that causes muscle weakness, numbness, fatigue and in some cases, paralysis. He was unable to train for seven months but started again last summer and is now back to full strength.

Two members of the New York Rangers NHL Hockey are on team USA. forwards J.T. Miller and Vincent Trocheck were officially named to the United States men’s hockey team for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
