Rocah announced onJuly 15, 2022, that former Mount Vernon Police Officer Antoine Henrys was sentenced to threemonths in jail and five years of probation for a collision he caused by driving in excess of 120miles per hour, while off duty, on the Hutchinson River Parkway that resulted in the death of 52-year-old White Plains resident John Osario. “Our hearts go out to the victim’s family,” DA Rocah said. “We are disappointed that the Courtdid not agree with our recommendation that a sentence of state prison be imposed to hold thedefendant accountable for causing the victim’s death by his unquestionably dangerous driving.” On September 25, 2020, at approximately 9:27 p.m., Henrys, 39, of Mount Vernon, wasspeeding northbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway near Lincoln Avenue in Mount Vernon.He struck the rear of a vehicle, which caused the driver to lose control and hit the motorcycleOsario was driving. The impact resulted in the victim’s body being thrown into the southboundlanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway, where he was struck by multiple cars and killed. Following an investigation, Henrys was arrested on June 16, 2021 by the Westchester CountyDepartment of Public Safety. He was indicted in June 2021 by a Westchester County Grand Juryfor Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a felony, and pled guilty on April 12, 2022, to thatcharge. Henrys resigned from the Mount Vernon Police Department in April 2022. The case was before Judge Robert Neary in Westchester County Court, and was prosecuted bythe Vehicular Crimes Bureau of the Trials and Investigations Division.
