Few Details on 79-Year Old Woman Found Stabbed to Death in Her Bronx River Road Home

On Friday, May 16, Yonkers Police were called to the Bronxville Ridge Apartments on Bronx River Road in Yonkers, to enter the home of an unresponsive person.

Officers found a deceased 79-year old woman inside. Five days later, Yonkers Police still had the yellow crime scene tape around the complex and had not issued a statement or any other information.

News 12 reported that the woman had injuries consistent with an assault. Those injuries were later explained as stab wounds.

Tony Solieri, a candidate for City Council in the 4th district, called the crime a “henious murder,” days before any official information was released. “Like so many in our community, I am heartbroken and outraged by the horrific murder of a 79-year-old woman in our community in her own home. I want to personally thank the Yonkers Police Department for their rapid response and ongoing work in this case.

Our officers put their lives on the line every single day to protect us, and we must ensure they have every tool and resource necessary to bring this killer to justice and prevent future tragedies. As a lifelong Yonkers resident, I know how important it is for our seniors, our families, and every resident to feel safe.

“That’s why I will always stand with our police. I will fight to strengthen public safety, support our law enforcement, and make sure Yonkers is a city where justice is swift and safety is never in doubt.

“We must not only mourn—we must act. I’m committed to making sure this community never forgets this victim, and never allows something like this to happen again,” said Solieri.

Councilman John Rubbo commented, “My heart is heavy as we mourn this tragic death. This remains an active investigation by the YPD and as I learn more, I will share any verified updates with the community.”

“In the meantime, I ask that we keep her, her loved ones, and all those impacted in our thoughts and prayers. Let’s allow the authorities the space they need to do their work, and let’s continue to support our men and women of the YPD.”
