Everything You Need To Know About Josh Allen

Josh Allen is a quarterback for the Buffalo Bills and in recent years has been making waves as a player with incredible talent and potential.

Allen’s story is one of hard work and perseverance when facing opposition. His ability to rise from the bottom into one of the greatest quarterbacks currently in the NFL is incredible.

His powerful plays have put the Buffalo Bills at the forefront of everyone’s minds when it comes to NFL lines.

In this article, we cover the life and career of Josh Allen and how he became one of the most skilled quarterbacks in the history of the NFL.

Early Life

Allen was born on the 21st of May 1996 in Fresno, California. He grew up on a cotton farm and unlike other future quarterbacks, he played a variety of sports in high school such as baseball and basketball.

Despite an impressive showing as a football player at Reedley College, Allen only received a scholarship to the University of Wyoming.

Allen ended up taking the scholarship to Wyoming and ended up becoming a bowl game MVP while playing for them. After a successful showing at Wyoming, Alien considered joining the 2017 draft but was talked into staying another year at university in order to improve his long-term NFL prospects.

2018 NFL Draft

In the 2018 draft, Allen was selected 7th overall by the Buffalo Bills where he signed a 4-year contract with them.

He made his regular-season debut on the 8th of September 2018 against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bills lost that game 47-3.

It wouldn’t be until week 3 that the Bills would see their first victory and this would be against the Minnesota Vikings at 27-6.

Allen, unfortunately, had to miss 4 games of the season due to an elbow injury but in his return game, he managed to do 99 rushing yards which is a Bills franchise record.

In this season Allen was the first Bills quarterback to lead in both passing and rushing. Despite this, he was the league’s lowest in terms of completion percentage and would be the same in the 2019 season.

2020 Season

This is considered to be Allen’s breakout season. In the first 2 weeks of the season, he got at least 700 yards passing, 6 touchdowns, and no interceptions. This feat has only been achieved by 3 other players, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes.

For his performance in September he was awarded the AFC Offensive Player of the Month, a title he would win again in December.

His December performance was incredible as he helped the Bills sweep the Patriots at 38-9 for the first time since 1999. In the previous week 8, he also led the Bills to their first home win against the Patriots since 2011.

In a Monday Night Football game against the 49ers, Allen joined Drew Brees as one of only two quarterbacks in NFL history to have 3 games of 375 passing yards, over 3 touchdowns, and a 130+ passer rating in a single season.

He won 4 AFC Offensive Player of the Week making him the first to win more than 3 in a single season.

In this season he received second-team All-Pro honors and was named to the Pro Bowl. At the end of the season, he managed to raise himself from the lowest scoring completion percentage to the fourth highest.

He also helped the Bills achieve their first division title since before he was born in 1995. That season he was named the PFWA Most Improved Player.

2021 Season

In the 2021 season, Allen led the Bills to their consecutive division title. In week 2 of the season, he also passed 10,000 career passing yards.

During this season, Allen became the first ever NFL quarterback to have a touchdown-scoring drive on every single offensive possession of a game. He also became the fourth player to get over 100 rushing yards and 300 passing yards in a single game.

He set his first (and currently only) NFL record this season with the highest passer rating in a single postseason at 149.0. He also became the first quarterback in NFL history to rush at least 6 touchdowns in his first 4 seasons.

That year on the NFL Top 100, Allen was ranked 10th overall. He would later be ranked 13th in 2022.

Personal Life

Outside of the NFL, Allen spends a lot of time visiting the John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital and being a spokesperson for them. The hospital named a wing in his grandmother’s honor after her passing due to the number of donations from him and his fans.

Final Thoughts

Allen is considered one of the strongest arms in the NFL with his throwing motion being an average of 0.38 seconds. His skills and potential are unmatched and he is considered to be one of the most technically skilled quarterbacks.

He currently holds the Bills’ franchise records in passing yards and touchdowns in a single season and we don’t doubt that he will set more in the future.
