
On Saturday, February 22 at 7:30 pm, Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will continue its highly touted Music in the Box series with the Eddie Allen Quartet, a well-respected jazz combo with a wealth of performance experience. Joining Allen on trumpet will be Misha Tsiganov on keyboard, Kenny Davis on acoustic bass and Tim Horner on drums. The group will play at WCT’s Black Box, 23 Water St. in Ossining, NY.
Trumpeter, composer, arranger, author, educator, Allen is known as a versatile musician on the New York scene. He has worked with such musical legends as Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers, Bette Midler, Etta Jones & Houston Person, Aretha Franklin, Randy Weston, John Mayer, Henry Threadgill, Gladys Knight, Gloria Gaynor, Benny Carter, T.S. Monk and Kool & the Gang.
Allen has performed in the orchestras of such Broadway hits as Ain’t Misbehavin’, Black & Blue, Side Show, Jelly’s Last Jam, Five Guys Named Mo’, The Color Purple and Rollin’ On the T.O.B.A. He is the author of the instructional method book, An Introduction to The Bb Concert Blues (Charles Colin Publishing – N.Y.C.).
Allen currently leads a jazz quartet, a jazz quintet, an Afro-Cuban/Brazilian septet called Salongo, a jazz septet named Push, and a 16-piece big band, the Eddie Allen Aggregation.
