Donald Trump’s Strange Tan

This too is Yonkers

By Eric Schoen

Baby it’s warm outside! Snow upstate earlier in the week, 80’s in town toward the end of the week. Spring has sprung us right into summer. Good time for me to explain why President Trump’s tan makes him look raccoon like.

As a former sun worshiper (now my sun comes in a bottle) it is easy for me to understand what is going on. Actually those who have gone to a tanning salon have known all along what is happening with his tanned face and white eyes. When one tans at a tanning salon using either a machine that tans just your face or your whole body, you are given either plastic goggle-like devices that cover your eyes or little pieces of eye shaped aluminum foil to wear while you are tanning.

The sun is not good for you put can be particularly dangerous for the eyes. So most people who tan using machines use these devices to protect their eyes. If they didn’t they would do danger to their eyes and a sun tan on your eye lids can be very painful. When you use either goggles or the foil devices they give the tanner the raccoon look because they block the Rays from your eyes.

Some people even use these devices then they sit in the sun at the beach or pool. I did and people would always look at me like I was weird sitting at the beach with goggle on my eyes. We know the weather in Washington, D.C. During the winter is not good for tanning, and knowing Trump he is not sitting on a beach chair or on the sand at Mar Lago when he heads to Florida. He’s always wearing a baseball cap in the sun, so his tan is not coming from natural sunlight!

Bottom line, he has to be using a tanning machine to either tan his face or whole body with tanning goggles or eye shaped aluminum foil. You learn something new every day!

WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS DINNER

Though I haven’t achieved the prestige to be a guest at the yearly White House Correspondents dinner (and the price of tickets would deplete the budget for these newspapers), what I saw from media reports of the event was disgusting. The event raises money for scholarships which is very important in this day and age of rising college costs, but that is no excuse for being plain old nasty as the comedian who served as Master of Ceremonies was.

Going after an individual’s looks has no place in our society, certainly not at a prestigious, publicly broadcast event like this dinner where people pay big bucks to attend. To have that individual Invited to sit on the dais by the organization that runs the event while he or she is ‘picked on’ is even more pathetic.

The purpose of the dinner is important. Comedians can make jokes without getting nasty. Many do every day in America. The New York Times hasn’t participated in this event in close to 20 years. As a journalist I was insulted by what occurred, and hope that the White House Correspondents Association reevaluates the event and those invited to serve as host!

DID YOU BUY COMEY’S BOOK YET

Poor James Comey. No I should say rich James Comey. The publicity his book has received has skyrocketed it to the top of the New York Times Bestseller list. Pretty impressive for a guy who grew up in little ‘Ol Yonkers!

He talks about his Yonkers upbringing in the book. What I can’t understand is why so many Republicans are unhappy with him. Many believe that his re-opening the Hillary investigation is what paved Trumps way to the White House. I can understand why Hillary Clinton’s supporters are upset with him, but Trump supporters should kiss the ground he walks on.

Frankly I’m sick and tired of all these investigations and wish they would come to a close. Our nation has problems that need to be addressed, and these investigations just take our elected leaders minds off the real problems facing our great country.

ONLY IN YONKERS KIDS, ONLY IN YONKERS

World renown artists coming to Yonkers to reuse the old city jail for offices, artists studios and an exhibition/events space. Those were the headlines coming out of Yonkers City Hall in November 2013. These artists got a break on the price of the facility, tax breaks, Yonkers opened its coffers to these world renown artists. Doubt any of the politicians who brokered the deal had even heard of these artists but we will save that for another day.

Story in the New York Times last year. A quote from that story: “Daniel Wolf, an art and photography dealer, and his wife, the artist and architect Maya Lin, thrilled local artists in 2013 when they bought the empty 1926 Yonkers City Jail. Although the couple initially considered holding public events there, Mr. Wolf has found that he needs the entire building to store his collections, host visits by clients and curators, and do a little painting of his own.

I was very upset when I read an article in hamlethub.com last week telling this sad story. How do we let outsiders, carpetbaggers rip the city of Yonkers off like this. When elected officials get campaign contributions from the developers who fail to develop or fail to do as proposed, do they look the other way? Why don’t they go after those who steal from our city. Does campaign cash speak louder than a developers commitment to the public?

This nonsense goes on all the time. Have we heard a peep out of City Hall demanding the developers make good on their commitment. Sadly, no!

HANDICAPPED PARKING AND CLOTHING TRY-ON ROOMS

Why do People think that they can use a handicapped parking space if the space is empty and they sit in the car? I witnessed a person attempting to use a handicapped try-on room at a local store and the clerk telling them the room was only for people in wheel chairs.

Let’s set the rules straight. Handicapped parking spaces are to be used by the handicapped person with the local jurisdiction permit. If a non-handicapped person is in the car capable of driving the person must drop the handicapped person off using the handicapped space if needed and move to a non-handicapped space.

Handicapped clothing try-on rooms are not just for people in wheelchairs. If someone requests to use one the store employees should not question why the individual needs to use the room. None of his or her business. And these rooms need to be kept open and ready for use.
