“If it weren’t for Virginia, Epstein and Maxwell would still be engaged in sex trafficking.”
David Boies
We recently spoke to Westchester resident and prominent attorney David Boies to discuss Virginia Giuffre’s book, Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice. The book was published on October 21; Giuffre died by suicide on April 25, 2025.
Boies, who lives in Armonk and founded his legendary litigation firm in the Town, represented Giuffre in a civil lawsuit against Prince Andrew, winning a significant settlement. Boies, alongside partner Sigrid McCawley, took on Giuffre’s cases pro bono, lending high visibility and credibility to her allegations against Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, Prince Andrew, and others.
What are your feelings about Virginia’s book and the response to it?
“It’s a tough book to read. What she went through, no one should have to go through. The book shows her marked courage and resilience.”
“She really dedicated the last 15 years of her life trying to make a difference and reduce the chance that other girls would have to go through what she went through. It’s a portrait of pain and tragedy, but also a case of how a single person brought down Epstein and Maxwell. -“If it weren’t for Virginia, Epstein and Maxwell would still be engaged in sex trafficking,”
“She brought them down and in doing so shined the light on something that too many people ignore too much of the time,” said Boies.
There are still non-believers of Virginia out there claiming that every one of her accusations is false, and her book has not stopped that.
“Just look at American politics today and the kinds of things that people believe today. Epstein had enormous economic, political, and media power. They painted this picture of Virginia and convinced a lot of people who weren’t paying attention.”
“If you think about the number of prominent PR people and lawyers whom Epstein hired to attack not only Virginia but all of these victims, it’s tragic and outrageous.”
“So much of their attacks were false. The lawyers kept going around all the way back to 2007-2008, representing to reporters that Epstein had passed a lie detector test and that he never had sex with underage girls. Their willingness to flat-out lie is extraordinary.”
“They were able to convince a lot of people who weren’t paying attention.”
There has been a recent effort to try to rehabilitate Ghislaine Maxwell, both in the media and in her prison sentence. Virginia’s book refutes that.
“Anyone who has doubts about Maxwell’s culpability should read her deposition from our case. Not all of it (EBT) is public, and it is still an ongoing process. But the evidentiary record in our case is overwhelming, and I don’t think even the most ardent conspiracy theorists would have any doubts if they read it.”
What about the call for the release of the government’s Epstein files?
“There is a discharge petition in the House to release the files, and they are trying to keep one member from being sworn in to prevent that. I think that is revealing.”
Your trial was the opening of truth and belief in Virginia.
“The number of women who testified at her trial, I think there were 4 or 5 victims, each had a similar story. Maxwell befriended them, brought them in, groomed them, and made them available to Epstein and his collaborators.”
Sigrid McCawley, Boies Schiller Flexner managing partner and attorney representing Epstein/Maxwell survivors, said, “Ghislaine Maxwell continues to refuse to accept responsibility for the heinous crimes she was convicted of. The record is clear and compelling. When Maxwell had an audience at her own criminal trial in the form of a jury, the people who served on the jury heard the evidence and believed the women, who bravely held her to account and spoke the truth, not Maxwell. That is the only audience that matters.”
I encourage all of our readers to read Virginia’s book and make their own determination on whether she is telling the truth. I can state without a doubt that I believe her story and that I want the Epstein files to be released, regardless of who is named.
Anyone who is being protected by the delay in the release of the Epstein files should have considered their illegal, improper, and immoral actions before they took them.
Virginia Guiffre got the last word with her book.
