Westchester County Executive George Latimer has appointed Karin E. Hablow as Commissioner of Finance. Hablow previously served as the Commissioner of Finance of Orange County in Goshen.
Latimer said: “Karin has had a long, and highly accomplished career in managing the financial operations and accounting for significant organizations, including most recently as the Commissioner of Finance in Orange County. With more than 15 years of progressive experience in budget development, fiscal operations and financial reporting, we are sure that she will serve the Finance Department well in her new role as Commissioner.”
Hablow said: “I am thankful to County Executive Latimer for this great opportunity to serve the residents of Westchester in such an important role. I’m excited to lead the team of talented fiscal professionals in the Department of Finance as we provide innovative and efficient governmental financial services.”
Hablow received her Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business. As Commissioner of Finance in Orange, Hablow managed an $830 million budget, including payroll, accounting, tax, real property and taxation, debt issuance/management, capital plan and investment functions for Orange County.
Westchester County is AA rated by all three bond rating agencies – Standard and Poor’s, Fitch and Moody’s. The Westchester County Department of Finance is responsible for the accounts payable, purchasing, employee payroll, debt management, pension administration, revenue investment, tax collection, certiorari tax judgment processing and employee benefit functions of the Westchester County government.
