County Executive Jenkins Urges Westchester Residents to Take Advantage of New State Program to Reduce Their Heating Costs

As Many as Half of All Westchester Household May Be Eligible for a Discount on Their Heating Bills This Winter

Heating season is here and Westchester County wants residents to know that as many as half of County households may be eligible for a discount on their heating bills this winter. The discounts are part of the state’s new Enhanced Energy Affordability Program, but to take advantage, residents must apply.

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “Energy prices are high and everyone can use a break. I’m grateful to Governor Hochul for the creation of this program for working families. We want to make sure everyone who is eligible takes advantage of the opportunity to get relief from high costs this season.”

In the past, the Energy Affordability Program made discounts available to people receiving a range of social service support.  But under new financial guidelines, households not previously eligible for discounts can get a break too. For example, if you’re a ConEd customer in a three-person household, you may qualify if you have household income of up to $145,800 a year.

The discount you will receive varies by utility and what type of energy you use.

If you think your income might qualify you for the new Enhanced Energy Assistance, please check your eligibility and apply.

You can do this online either through New York State or through your utility.

Through New York State:
