Council President Khader & Feeding Westchester Address Food Insecurity in Yonkers

Yonkers City Council President Mike Khader in partnership with Feeding Westchester organized a food distribution event to help those families who have been struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the help of nearly 300 community partners and programs, Feeding Westchester has been providing food and other much needed resources to those who are in need in Westchester County for more than 30 years. In the past year, the organization has launched an additional 40 emergency programs throughout the county to help meet the increased need for food due to the pandemic.

The second date of food distribution will be held on May 4th at 12:30pm and located at 23 John Street here in Yonkers.

“I thank Feeding Westchester for coming to Yonkers and providing food distribution for our residents” said City Council President Khader. “This past year has shown that we must come together to ensure that no family has to make the difficult choice between groceries and rent. These two food distribution dates will help the struggling families of Yonkers provide for their families.”

“We have been partnering with pantries, schools, soup kitchens, and other feeding programs in Yonkers to support our seniors, children, and families struggling with hunger for more than 30 years, and we will continue to do so,” said Karen C. Erren, President and CEO of Feeding Westchester. “We are so grateful to our community partners and local government for their support in our mission to provide food to our Westchester neighbors in need, especially during this prolonged hard time that impacts so many.”

“I’m so grateful for everyone’s combined efforts as we take care of and look after our neighbors. As I’ve said before there are so many issues facing our community that were exacerbated by the pandemic but will, unfortunately, continue to be around long after we’ve beaten the virus. It’s important that we all do what we can to volunteer, donate, or do whatever we can to make a difference in the lives around us,” said Khader.
