The City Council passed an amendment sponsored by City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy to a local law that requires The Ethics Board to publicly disseminate meeting minutes.
The Ethics Code of the City of Yonkers will promote public confidence in the integrity of the city’s governance and administration by performing public business in an open and transparent manner.
This amendment to the local law emphasizes the responsibility of the Ethics Board to oversee compliance with state and local ethics laws by making, maintaining, and disseminating minutes of its public meetings to the public. Redactions may be made as permitted under the Freedom of Information Law of the State of New York.
The City Council is committed to promoting transparency in the Ethics Committee’s discussions and topics. By doing so, the public will be able to offer feedback and feel empowered to voice their opinions on the issues presented.
