Cop Shot in Bristol, Ct. False Alarm-Trap from Westchester

All of us in Westchester are praying for Police Officer Alec Lurato, a member of the Bristol, Connecticut police department who was caught in a shootout that killed two officials and injured Lurato.

Lurato, 26, is a 2014 gradutated from Yorktown High School. According to the Connecticut State Police, on Oct. 12 three officers responded to a domestic violence call at a private home. Upon arrival shots were fired at the officers, killing Sgt. Dustin DeMonte, age 35, and Officer Alex Hamzy, age 34, and wounding Lurato.  

Lurato was released from the hospital on Oct. 13 after surgery for a gunshot wound. A preliminary investigation has the officers responding to a possible domestic violence 911 call, but now police believe that the call was a false call, with two brothers Nicholas Brutcher and Nathaniel Brutcher, waiting with guns.

Nicholas Bruther is the suspected shooter was shot and killed. Nathaniel was shot and wounded and it has not been determined if he also shot at police.

Yorktown High School Principal Joseph DeGennaro Tweeted, “Please keep YHS Class of 2014 alum Alec Iurato in your thoughts & prayers. Alec is a police officer in Bristol, CT. He had surgery overnight & is in serious condition after being shot. Alec was a terrific role model at YHS, standout baseball player & an even better person.:
