Hey Yonkers, meet your 2023 Yonkers Idol and Yonkers Junior Idol. After multiple rounds of competition and months of vocal training. the Idols are, Yonkers Idol Brianna Novellino (The Clearview School) and Yonkers Junior Idol Okello Allen (PEARLS Hawthorne School). The two will be performing at City events throughout the year, and both received a $1,000 award, courtesy of the UPAC Theresa Fund.
The finals took place at Untermyer Park on June 17. The Judges this year, Parks Commissoner Steve Sansone, Olivia Hunter, Singer/PR Marketing Associate, Yon Zweibon, Professional Costumer, Peter DiIorio, System Project Manager, and Joyce Henery, Singer/Actress, had a difficult decision to make in picking the winners.
Congratulations to the finalists, who all gave a good performance, Junior Idol Finalists, Molly Henry, Belle Ortiz, and Idol Finalist Sofia Santana.
2023 Yonkers Idol Winner Brianna Novelino sang “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles and “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. 2023 Yonkers Junior Idol Winner Okello Allen sang “Cry Me A River” Arthur Hamilton.
