Yonkers Rising Player of the Year for the Yonkers Force, Nazir Fields, with Coach Anthony Fava
By Phil Foley
Yonkers Force QB Nazir Fields, from Gorton High School, has been named Yonkers Rising player of the year!
Following former Player of the Year, QB Alvin Martinez, Yonkers Force QB Nazir Fields had some rather large footsteps to follow in. But he exceeded expectations and had a historic year for a QB since Yonkers merged into the Force & Brave format.
Nazir is the first player since the merger to rush for over 1,000 yards while also throwing for an additional 850 yards and having 16 combined TDs. He received All Section and All League accolades and was also recognized as an Honorable Mention QB on the Westchester LOHUD All Star Team.
On the field, Nazir led with a quiet and confident demeanor, but when it came to game time, he was a ferocious runner for an undersized QB. He rarely went down on first contact and displayed a toughness that ignited the team.
We expect Nazir to have an even better Senior Season. He has already garnered collegiate interest and has been invited to several recruiting showcases in the northeast.
We can’t wait to see his Senior campaign and where he attends college!
