The ninth annual Brain Bee competition, hosted by Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, was held recently on Burke’s campus in White Plains. High school students who aspire to careers as brain surgeons or neuroscience researchers competed at the event. From Burke’s and other regional competitions, Brain Bee culminates in an international world championship.
The winners of this year’s competition are: (from left) Amanda Kang, a junior at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School, who took third place; Bianca Vama, a senior at Bronx High School of Science, who took first place; and Nitin Seshadri, a junior at Somers H.S., who took second place. Vama will next compete in the National Brain Bee to be held at Kent State.
