Community groups have come together to clean-up and bring new playground swings to Mamaroneck’s Columbus Park. Two new swing sets will be opened at a Columbus Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, November 7th at 10:00am.

The new “Expression Swing” from GameTime is designed to promote intergenerational adult & child play. Both swing sets were funded through the Village’s Recreation Trust.

The project began with an idea by resident, Pereese Jackson. The Community Resource Center brought the project to the Village, who approved the project, to be carried out by Village’s Parks & Recreation Department.

The CRC worked together with a group of students from Iona College on a Survey in English & Spanish on additional uses for Columbus Park. The project brought in additional partners – the Larchmont Mamaroneck Lions & Leos, the Girl Scouts and the Mamaroneck Chamber of Commerce.
The ribbon cutting ceremony follows an October 24 park clean-up & beautification by the partners.

Also, on October 24th, Mamaroneck resident Jarrett Winchester led the creation of a beautiful Black Lives Matter Mural along the northern border of Columbus Park

Columbus Park, located north of the Mamaroneck Metro North Train Station is one of the Village’s 14 parks and is maintained by the Village’s Parks & Recreation Department. The Columbus Park project is the first step in the community wide review of further improvements to the Village parks.
