Yonkers Force Football star Colby Frias accepts the Yonkers Rising Award with Coach Dan DeMatteo and Gorton HIgh School Assistant Principal Mr. Morales

By Phil Foley

On Dec. 4 at Gorton High  School in front of the student body, Colby Frias was awarded the Yonkers Rising Player of the Year Award. Colby, a three-year starting quarterback for the Force, is being recruited by many schools, including SUNY-Cortland.

Colby has been voted All-Section, All-League, All-Conference and League AA South Most Valuable Player. In addition to playing quarterback, Colby also played as a good defensive back. He was invited and played in the exceptional senior game for Section 1.

Colby is graduating in January (early) in Gorton’s Flight Program, which is for highly-motivated academic students to get a jump start on college. We at Yonkers Rising congratulate Colby on his award and football career, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors!

Congrats to Coach Dan Dematteo on another fine job with the Yonkers Force in 2019!
