CITY OF YONKERS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS TO HOST ANNUAL DPW DAY IN CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK

2026 National Public Works Week Theme: Rooted in Service, Powered by Community

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and the City of Yonkers Department of Public Works will host its annual DPW Day on Tuesday, May 19, at 10:00 AM at the Westchester Hills School 29 on 27 Croydon Road.

DPW Day is in celebration of National Public Works Week, observed nationwide from May 17 – 23, recognizing the essential services public works professionals provide to keep communities safe, clean, and connected.

Students at Westchester Hills School 29 will participate in educational presentations from public works professionals, hands-on demonstrations featuring DPW equipment and vehicles, and interactive activities highlighting the important role public works play in everyday life.

This year’s National Public Works Week theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” highlights public works professionals and what they do to keep communities safe, connected, and thriving.
