State test scores for elementary students released by the State Department of Education show that student at the Yonkers Charter School for Education Excellence, CSEE, significatly outperformed Yonkers Public Schools students.

CSEE students had the highest percentage of students meeting the standard for the ELA exam in 6th grade at 80%, compared to 35% for YPS, and in 7th grade, with 78% of CSEE students meeting the standard, compared to 40% for YPS.

On the Math exam, 81% of CSEE 6th graders met the standard, compared to 38% for YPS students. NYC students test results also outperformed YPS students.

Dr. Eduardo LaGuerre, Founder of CSEE and Board Chairman, said “Every year since we have opened we have always outperformed YPS students, at half the cost. It’s about loving kids and being able to work with parents, and having a staff that is committed. It takes a health body and healthy mind and people that are committed to children.

“All of our Charter School high school students have been accepted to college, with $8 Million in scholarships. We retain our teachers and staff, they stay with us not because of the money but because of our learning environment. We have a loving, nurturing and supportive school, and these test results show it.”
