Charles E. Gorton High School Class of 1994 Celebrates 30th Reunion

The Charles E. Gorton High School Class of 1994 celebrated its 30th reunion November 30 at Castle Royale in Yonkers. Alumni, former teachers, and friends came together for an evening filled with laughter, reminiscing, and dancing to music from the 90s and beyond. A moment of silence was held to remember classmates, staff, and teachers who had passed away.

The reunion was organized by a dedicated committee, co-chaired by Adam M. Greenwald and Hope Hodges, with members Ebony Cook Yizar, Dan DeMatteo, Roxanne Franquelli, Ivan Hernandez, and Ada Medina. Former teachers Mr. Roco Riti and Ms. Dora Manzo joined the celebration and were warmly greeted by attendees. Mr. George Morris also attended and was enthusiastically welcomed, though he is not pictured in the event photo.

Special thanks go to Yonkers Public Schools Superintendent Aníbal Soler, Jr. and Gorton High
School Principal Mr. Jamie Morales for supporting this milestone event. The reunion highlighted
the enduring bonds and shared pride of the Gorton High School community.

Gorton High School, established in 1923, is a public magnet school in Yonkers. Known as the “Home of the Wolves,” the school has a rich history of academic excellence, school spirit, and a commitment to preparing students for success in higher education and their future careers.

The school is home to specialized academies such as the Academy of Information Technology, the Law and Public Service Academy, the Medical and Health Professionals Academy, and the Commercial Horticulture Academy. These programs provide students unique pathways to explore their interests and pursue various career opportunities.

With an annual graduating class averaging around 200 students, the school has produced approximately 20,000 alumni. This extensive network of former students reflects Gorton High School’s enduring legacy and significant contributions to the educational and professional landscapes locally and beyond.
