Celebration includes First-Ever Selfie & Sip with Santa and Chanukah Menorah Lighting, Thursday, December 15 – Sunday, December 18
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, Department of Public Works Commissioner Thomas G. Meier and Teamsters Local 456 invite Yonkers residents to celebrate the holidays with the City’s first-ever Selfie & Sip with Santa. Festivities begin Thursday, December 15th and run through Sunday, December 18th at the Yonkers Department of Public Works (DPW) Service Center, where visitors are invited to enjoy holiday lights and decorations, FREE hot cocoa, candy and the opportunity take their own photo with Santa in his “workshop.” The DPW Service Center also will host a Chanukah Menorah Lighting on Sunday, December 18th at 4PM.
“What better time than now for us to give back to our community during this most joyful and festive time of year,” said Mayor Spano. “Thank you to the spirited, hard-working Teamsters and DPW workers for giving of their time so all can partake in the magic of the holidays. We hope all can join us!”
Visitors are invited to celebrate the holidays at the Yonkers DPW Service, located at 1130 Nepperhan Avenue, at the following dates and times:
Selfie & Sip with Santa

– Saturday, December 17 11AM-3PM
– Sunday, December 18 11AM-3PM
Chanukah Menorah Lighting
– Sunday, December 18 4PM
“The Department of Public Works is thrilled to be starting our annual Selfie & Sip with Santa holiday tradition,” said DPW Commissioner Thomas G. Meier. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the men and women of this Department to give back to our residents and come together to celebrate this joyous time of year. Giving back to those in need is the epitome of the holiday season and we strongly encourage donations of non-perishable food items.”
Teamsters Local 456 President Louis Picani added, “We are delighted to partner with the Mayor and the Commissioner in the first ever Selfie & Sip with Santa event. Teamsters Local 456 is always on the forefront helping the communities in which we work and live in, and we hope the residents come out to enjoy some holiday cheer.”
In an effort to provide for those in need this holiday season, donations of non-perishable food items will be collected at the Department of Public Works Service Center in collaboration with the scheduled events.
