Congratulations to Cassie Pelosi for being named Con Edison’s Scholar Athlete of the Week. Pelosi, a senior at North Salem High School and the Captain of the Varsity Girls Soccer team, has scored a record 71 goals for North Salem over her five-year career (she started playing for the varsity soccer team in the 8th grade!) Pelosi recently scored her third set of hat tricks (3 goals in a game) in a recent win over Haldane. She was League MVP in 2021, and 2022.

Cassie is a three-sport student athlete. In addition to Soccer, Pelosi has excelled on the Varsity Winter track team, winning the League Champion in Long Jump, 800m, 4X400m, and helping North Salem win their first League Championship in 2023. She also played on the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team.

Academically, Cassie is in the top 1% of her class, with a 99% unweighted GPA. She will graduate with 9 AP Courses upon graduation, in addition to taking Advanced Science Research in her Senior Year.

A Member of the National Honor Society and Math Honor Society, Cassie has also served as the editor of the North Salem HS school newspaper, and as a member of the Environmental Club and Math Club. She also helped organize a clothing drive for Ukrainian refugees.

In the summer of 2022, Cassie completed 150 hours of volunteer work in a lab for Mount Sinai, working with researchers studying mice, bone metabolism, and endocrinology. She has also completed 100 volunteer hours for Second Chance Foods, a food rescue organization cooking, packaging, and delivering food to those in need.

Cassie plans on attending Emory University next year, where she will be playing Women’s Soccer. “Cassie is one of the top performers I have had the pleasure of knowing, both in and out of the classroom. She is a natural leader and works to the best of her ability each and every day. She balances her academic and athletic strengths with a selfless attitude of giving, as she volunteers and participates in extracurricular clubs in an authentic fashion to better the world around her. She is the epitome of what we desire as the ultimate student-athlete in North Salem,” said North Salem HS Principal .Vince Di Grandi.

“Cassie is by far the most talented student athlete that I have had the opportunity to work with throughout my 20+year career as an Athletic Administrator. She is the epitome of a student athlete. Her leadership in the school building and on the playing field is evident daily. Cassie works the hardest while no one is looking, always looking to improve herself and her teammates to be the best that they can be. Cassie has had the highest overall average for her class over the past three years: 2021, 2022, and 2023,” said Athletic Director Denise Kiernan.
