Campaign Against Antisemitism Calls Upstate NY Nazi-Yoga March in Courtroom “Astonishing”

Our story about an upstate NY court officer who got fired for trying to do the right thing when he saw a Yoga-laughter training session in a family courtroom that turned into a Nazi march, continues to be one of our most popular and shared on Facebook and Reddit. The incident happened in the Warren County Family Court and resulted in the termination of court officer Matthew Campbell, who recorded the video linked above to prove that what he saw was true.

We reached out to the Campaign Against Antisemitism who said: “This entire saga is astonishing. While ‘laughter’ and Nazi salutes would not generally seem to go together, perhaps the class had some constructive purpose. But to fire someone raising concerns about such activity in a courthouse beggars belief. A security guard has every right to be offended and disturbed by what appears to be depicted in the video, and his employers have a duty to explain or allay those concerns, not punish him for raising them. This case is a real test for the local judiciary.”

Court Officer Campbell has his gun permit pulled from him as a result of taping this unfortunate event and after a hearing officer recommended a 6 month probation for his recording a courtroom, he was fired. The confication of his gun, and his termination, came from Deputies under Chief Justice Janet DiFiore.

The person who led the Nazi march as a so called training session, Court Clerk Thompson, was never reprimanded or punished for her insensitivity.
