Beloved Bicycle Sundays Return to Westchester September 11

Beloved Bicycle Sundays return this fall and will take place Sept. 11, 18 and 25, and Oct. 2. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Bronx River Parkway.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said, “As summer winds down and back-to-school schedules start to fill up, Bicycle Sundays are a great way for families to take time to be together while participating in a healthy activity.”

Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation, Kathy O’Connor said, “I’m excited for the return of Bicycle Sundays and for residents to enjoy the open air on the Bronx River Parkway while taking in the colorfull fall foliage.”

Chairperson of the Westchester Parks Foundation, Seth Mandelbaum said, “Bicycle Sundays is a great way to promote a healthy outdoor lifestyle this fall.  We are grateful to NewYork-Presbyterian, Con Edison and BJ’s Wholesale Club for their continued support and commitment to parks and open spaces. The WPF looks forward to engaging with community members each week to help preserve, protect, and enhance Westchester County Parks for future generations.”

During Bicycle Sundays, a portion of the Bronx River Parkway is closed to cars from for the exclusive use of bicyclists, joggers, walkers, scooters and strollers. The course runs from the Westchester County Center in White Plains, south to Scarsdale Road in Yonkers, a round-trip of 13.1 miles. There are many points of entry and exit along the way.

Bicycle Sundays is presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by the Westchester Parks Foundation and its partners, through generous donations from co-presenting sponsors NewYork-Presbyterian, NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Westchester, Con Edison and BJ’s Wholesale Club, with support from WHUD.
