Beczak to Host Red Monkey Theater Group’s Free Performance of “Insignificant” May 21

Join Beczak Environmental and Education Center in Yonkers as they host a performance of “Insignificant” by the Red Monkey Theatre Group on Sunday, May 21 at 2:00 PM at 35 Alexander Street. The performance will be held in Habirshaw Park and in case of rain, inside the Beczak building.

Enjoy the performance of the actors as they portray the group of women at Harvard University in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Cecilia Payne, Annie Jump Cannon, known as the “Harvard Computers” who overcame prejudice, denigration, and opposition to change the course of modern astronomy and developed revolutionary systems to chart snd measure stars that remain in use today. Their battles for recognition, respect, and equality are still being fought by women in the 21st century.

This FREE outdoor performance of Insignificant by Sean Michael Welch, marks the end of Red Monkey Theater Group’s spring tour of this wonderful production with the beautiful Hudson River as a backdrop.

No reservations necessary! Seating will be provided, but feel free to bring lawn chairs/blankets.
