Assemblyman Nader Sayegh Kicks off Re-election Campaign

At an outdoor socially distanced campaign rally, State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh launched his re-election campaign calling on Yonkers residents to continue leading the way against the division and hate that grips the nation.
“If Yonkers can continue to promote collaboration, teamwork and the respect that we have for one another, we can build upon it so it once again becomes the norm for New York State and the nation,” said Sayegh, who represents Yonkers in the Assembly.

Completing his first term in the State Assembly, Sayegh has consistently called for putting aside partisan politics to support the institutions that New Yorkers rely on, including the United States Postal Service and protecting the integrity of the 2020 Census, vital to protecting the federal funding so needed by urban communities like Yonkers.

State and county officials praised Sayegh’s first term efforts in the State Legislature. “It is clear that we are all here to tell Assemblyman Sayegh that he has done an outstanding job,” said Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins. “In the State Assembly, he has always understood that first and foremost he represents the people of Yonkers, and because of the integrity and principles that he embodies every single day, our City & State continue to lead.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who served in both the Assembly and Senate, said the State Legislature can intimidate new members, but not Sayegh. “Places like Yonkers need to send to the Legislature people who are there to fight for the things they believe in and the people they believe in and that’s what Nader has done.”

“Yonkers is what Nader Sayegh lives and dies for,” said State Senator Shelley Mayer. “Yonkers knows that you are in the Assembly to fight for this city and make sure it is as great as it can be.”

“In the State Assembly, Nader has never missed a beat,” said Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, who also previously served in the State Assembly. “He advocated for additional education aid, additional municipal aid, and passed good common-sense legislation that provides for a good and safe community.”

Member of organized labor attended the campaign kick-off. Sayegh has earned a wide assortment of endorsements from labor unions including the New York State AFL-CIO, 1199SEIU, 32BJSEIU, NYSUT, CWA Local 1, and the Yonkers Uniformed Fire Officers Association.

This year Assemblyman Sayegh is running unopposed, in part because of his ability to reach consenus and serve the people of Yonkers without regard to politics, much like he did in his decades of service on the Yonkers Board of Education and in the Yonkers Public Schools.
