ASSEMBLYMAN MATT SLATER SWORN IN FOR SECOND TERM IN NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY

Assemblyman Matt Slater took the oath of office for his second term in the New York State Assembly at the Putnam County Courthouse on Dec. 31, 2024.

Slater, who has represented the 94th Assembly District since his election in 2022, will return to Albany on Monday, Jan. 6, to begin the new legislative session.

Reflecting on his first term, he expressed gratitude for the continued support of his constituents and his determination to address critical issues in the year ahead, saying, “As someone who has called Yorktown home my entire life, I’m deeply honored by the trust the people of the Hudson Valley have placed in me to represent them. Today’s ceremony was a wonderful celebration of our community and a reminder of the important work ahead.”

Slater highlighted the strong record of success of his first term which included delivering more than $30 million for roads, bridges and important infrastructure projects. He passed the 7th most legislation of any freshman in the Assembly chamber and built bipartisan support on key initiatives such as the Detective Brian Simonsen Bill. Slater also highlighted the strong constituent work his district office provided by successfully closing more than 1,000 constituent cases within his first term.

“It was a privilege to take the oath of office alongside so many dedicated public servants, and I look forward to continuing the work we’ve started to strengthen our communities and build a better future for all of us,” Slater continued. “I am reinvigorated and excited to return to Albany to focus on affordability, opportunity and public safety.”

The ceremony also included the swearing-in of Rep. Michael Lawler, Sen. Peter Harckham, Assemblywoman Dana Levenberg, Putnam County Legislators Nancy Montgomery, Laura Russo and Daniel G. Birmingham, as well as Putnam County Coroner Wendy Erickson.
