John Isaac, Republican candidate for Assembly in the 90th District, fresh off his recent debate against Democrat Assemblyman Nader Sayegh, reminded voters that in the six years that Sayegh has served Yonkers in Albany, things haven’t gotten better, they have gotten worse for Yonkers taxpayers and families.
“Nader Sayegh took office six years ago and made a lot of promises. He promised to work on fixing our 100-year-old schools. He promised to protect Yonkers families from crime and help fight the affordability crisis, as he likes to say.
“But everything is less affordable now than it was six years ago, and the people of Yonkers are hurting now more than ever.
“Crime is up -Inflation is up -Taxes are up- Our schools and our education funding formula is still broken. Sayegh voted to make New York a sanctuary state. We have cashless bail and Venezuelan gangs roaming Times Square and Central Park.
“He made a lot of promises but hasn’t been able to deliver. He goes along to get along and rubber stamps the Crazy Hochul Agenda.
“Crime is up -Inflation is up -Taxes are up-Our schools and education funding formula are still broken. He voted to make New York a sanctuary state. We have cashless bail and Venezuelan gangs roaming Times Square and Central Park. He made a lot of promises but hasn’t been able to deliver. He goes along to get along and never ruffles any feathers
“So, I ask the people of Yonkers, are you better off now than you were six years ago when Nader Sayegh took office?
“My answer is no, which is why I’m running for Assembly. To change the rubber-stamping of the democratic supermajority that Nader Sayegh has become.
“I ask you to give me a chance. Give me 730 days to make a difference and call for change in Albany. After two years, you can vote based on my record.
“I am not a career politician. I am a family man first and a small businessman second.
“Some of Nader Sayegh’s six years in Albany occurred during COVID. But just as we were coming out of COVID, Nader Sayegh voted to give himself a pay raise. It happened at the end of the year, during the holidays. They rushed back to Albany and voted themselves a raise.
“This is when inflation started crushing Yonkers families. Energy prices went up. Food at the store went up. Crime went up. And during all of this, Nader Sayegh gave himself a pay raise?
“Nader Sayegh is better off now than six years ago, but are you? I say it’s time for a change. We have to end the Sayegh-Rubber Stamp Era.
“I will work to fix our bail reforms, reign in taxes, and get Yonkers its fair share of education funding. I won’t vote for billions for hotels, debit cards, and cell phones for migrants. The people of Yonkers are hurting. Let’s help them first.
“And one more idea: How about we cut the NY State Gasoline tax? Wouldn’t that give voters some needed relief? He has had six years, and the results tell the story. Things have gotten worse for people in Yonkers.
“I love Yonkers and want my children and grandchildren to live here. I want to give them back the chance at the American Dream in New York State. And I want that for you and your families. Early voting starts on Saturday, Oct. 26. Election Day is Nov. 5. I ask for your vote and a chance to serve the people of Yonkers,” said Isaac.
